TIFTON [mdash] Erie Kelley Archer Chambliss, 90, of Tifton passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Southern Oaks Personal Care. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Chambliss at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Ken Kelley and the Rev. Rodney Owens will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals
Born November 24, 1930, in Enigma, Mrs. Chambliss was the daughter of the late Clem Anderson Kelley and Minnie Lee McMillan Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Raiford Harris Archer; her second husband, Jessie George Chambliss; and four brothers, C. D. Kelley, Nathaniel Kelley, Ray Kelley and Frank P. Kelley. Before retiring, she worked at South Georgia Banking Company as a Marketing Officer and was one of the original two bank clerks, Ann McLeod and President Pait Willis, when South Georgia Banking Company was chartered. She was a member of the Women Bankers Association and the 20th Century Library Club. She enjoyed volunteering with the Tifton Love Affair and being a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. She was a member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chambliss is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Walter and Jeanne Archer of Omega; one daughter, Susan Archer Green of Tifton; one granddaughter and her husband, Gena and Jeff Green; and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kauff, Kassidy Kauff and Kennedy Kauff.
The family would like to the thank Jessica Copeland and the staff of Southern Oaks Personal Care and the staff of Hospice of Tift Area.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, 618 Central Avenue North, Tifton, GA 31794.
