Kathleen Frazer Eldredge

Kathleen Frazer Eldredge of Marietta passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born in Washington, Georgia July 24, 1927 to now deceased parents, Wyatt and Jenna Booker Frazer. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Eldredge, in 2008 and her daughter, Kathy Eldredge, in 2012. Survivors include daughter, Patricia Acuff; sons, Steve Eldredge, Richard Eldredge, and his wife Wendy; grand-daughter, Denise Acuff; grand-sons, David Acuff, Jr., Wyatt Acuff, Stephen Eldredge, and his wife Sara; great grandchildren, Owen Eldredge and Eleanor Eldredge.
Kathleen graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Georgia, then entered North Georgia Junior College in Dahlonega. After graduating from North Georgia, she went to Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville where she received her B.S. Degree in Education. Her Masters and Specialist degrees were attained at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She became a teacher in Cobb County and was chosen as Teacher of the Year several times. Kathleen was nominated by her principal for the national honor in the 1975 edition of Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America. As a teacher and parent, she was active and served in various positions in the P.T.A. groups where she taught and, in the schools, where her children were students. She enjoyed and assisted in the activities in which her children participated such as Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and others. After retiring she became a life member of Cobb – Marietta Retired Educator’s Association of which she was a past president and served in various other positions of the organization. She was also a member of Georgia State Retired Educator’s Association.
Kathleen served on the advisory committee of Maco Credit Union after it was developed by a few educators from Marietta City and Cobb County School Systems. For some years, only employees of Marietta and Cobb schools could be members. Later it was opened to others and renamed Credit Union of Georgia.
As an active and long-time member, Kathleen loved her church, Marietta First Baptist, the Friendship Sunday School Class in Department 4, and the WMU organization. In the past she served as church clerk, Sunday School Department 4 Leader, and WMU Group Leader.
Four Seasons Garden Club, and especially the members, were very special and loved by Kathleen who was a member for many years. She was secretary of the club for several years and then served on the devotional committee.
As Kathleen goes on to join her husband Henry and her daughter Kathy, her surviving family members invite you to join them for visitation on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Marietta First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Marietta First Baptist Church, 148 Church Street Marietta, GA 30060 in lieu of flowers.
